Peanut Oil – Uses, Benefits And, Side Effects-Moma Baby Etc

With so many oils available in the market for cooking and other purposes, peanut oil is one of the most popular and common oil. It is also known as health oil. People who study nutrition are also amazed at what it can do with the person’s health. This oil is very popular in cooking oil and holds a treasure of nutrition and health benefits.

It is derived from groundnuts or peanuts. It is also known as Arachis oil (Arachis hypogea) which comes from the bean family and is native to Paraguay. Peanut oil is sweet edible vegetable oil. It is a very popular oil with mild and pleasant flavors. However, they are immensely popular worldwide. Its major component fatty acids are oleic acid, linoleic acid, palmitic acid, also stearic acid, behenic acid, lignoceric acid, and other fatty acids. Some antioxidants and vitamins are also added to the oil, to improve the shelf life of the oil.
Uses and health benefits of peanut oil
Peanut oil is considered as health oil and has various uses and benefits some are as follows:
1. Cooking.
For cooking purposes peanut oil is very popular all around the world, it is not as expensive as extra virgin olive oil. This oil has a high smoke point (225℃)  making it suitable for deep frying also. It is a good choice mainly because:
  •  It has a very high smoke point, which is an important factor while choosing cooking oil
  • Also, it is high in unsaturated fats, MUFA and PUFA and low saturated fats
2.Improves blood circulation
One more use or benefit of peanut oil is to boosts blood circulation in the body. It contains linoleic acid, that improves the level of prostaglandins in the blood. These are hormone-like secretion that acts locally and promotes the dilation of the blood vessels and other muscles of the body. Peanut oil also helps in maintaining the cholesterol level. Including some amount in our diet, we can maintain our heart health.
3. Improves blood sugar.
Peanut oil may help improve insulin sensitivity and lower blood sugar levels in people with diabetes. Consuming any fat with carbohydrate slows the absorption of sugar, may lead to a slower rise in blood sugar. Monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats present in it also plays a very important role in controlling blood sugar.
4. Helps in weight loss.
You may be amazed as to how oil can help in losing weight. Including peanut oil in your diet improves the person’s chances of losing weight. According to a study, peanut oil improves the satiety of a diet. This means it helps a person to have a fuller appetite, and the person satisfies better. This helps in managing unnecessary hunger pangs. The connection between peanut oil and hunger is not that strong, but definitely, it helps in some way or the other.

Peanut oil acts as a mild laxative, which helps in improving the constipation problem. Massaging the lower abdomen and lower back with raw peanut oils helps the muscles, which in return helps in relieving constipation quickly.

It acts as an antioxidant, a mild one. It is low in comparison to other oils, but it helps the body in fighting the radicals. Also, it maintains antioxidant properties even in humid conditions.
7. For hair health.
Peanut oil is considered as a very effective oil for the hair. It has been used for years for treating scaling of the scalp. It also helps in removing excessive dryness and flakinessfrom the scalp. This is also helpful in controlling the excess skin condition like psoriasiswhich causes severe scaling in the scalp. Massage it gently on the scalp and leave overnight. Rinse and wash with normal water, this will help in less irritation and reduce the scale formation. It makes your hair soft and shiny, by the regular use of peanut oil on the scalp you can reduce your split ends and make your hair healthy. It also strengthens the root and controls hair fall.
8. Peanut oil for healthy skin.
It is very effective for the skin. It can be used as a massage oil, it helps cure skin problems like dryness and makes it softer and smoother. Also, it also reduces dark spots and acnemaking your skin look beautiful. For Arthritis to take some oil and heat it, put lukewarm oil on your joints and gently massage.  A regular massage will help cure Arthritis pain.
Side effects
The side effects are not much more significant from this oil. It is safe for most people. However, it has been reported that sometimes this oil can cause serious allergic reactions in people who are hypersensitive to peanuts, soybeans and other leguminous plants. Another danger thing found in this oil is Anaphylaxis. If a person with peanut allergy consumes it may suffer irritation and pain in the abdomen, vomiting, and swelling in the throat. The side effects may not be very bad, but it can risk life if no proper care is taken.
Peanut oil caters a lot of solutions to many problems like food and health. Regular use may benefit some whereas an excess of peanut oil may affect the health negatively.
