Cause Of Hair Loss After Pregnancy:
The average person is losing around 100 hairs a day, but not all at once, so you don’t notice it. However, when you expect your pregnancy hormones keep those hairs from falling out— leaving your hair looking as lush as a supermodel, or so thick that you can hardly get a brush through it. But all nice things have to come to an end, including your amazing new’ do.’ The additional hairs also fall when these hormones fall back to normal.
Is it Normal to Lose Hair After Pregnancy?
It’s quite normal to lose hair after pregnancy and no need to worry at all. Approximately 85 percent of our hair grows actively while 15 percent of our remaining hair is in the resting mode. Usually, this 15 percent of hair falls out while combing or washing hair during a certain period called the shedding period, making way for new hair to grow.
During pregnancy, owing to high concentrations of estrogen, the hair’s growing phase is prolonged. In the rest mode, there are very few hairs and the overall hair loss is less. As a consequence, females have thicker and stronger hair during pregnancy.
Things are changing after delivery. The body’s concentration of estrogen falls, and suddenly a lot of follicles enter the rest mode and begin to fall abruptly. This can also be caused by the sudden shift in other hormones, but it is not continuous. Moms go through a shedding period after pregnancy that generally lasts only 6 to 8 months. This dramatic shift in a new mother’s life is therefore not permanent.
